MulTiSA 2024 - Evaluating Multivariate Distance Measures

At the MulTiSA workshop of ICDE 2024 in Utrecht I presented Beyond the Dimensions, our first structured evaluation of distance measures for multivariate time series. The talk introduces the taxonomy of measures (how they treat the channels: independently or together) and shows why no single measure wins. The much larger follow-up study appeared at SIGMOD 2025.
